Connections April 2014

Cheering Corner!

An integral part of PWNP’s mission is to uncover real ways to make an emotional connection with women and children at the shelters we support and not just provide for physical needs. We see “joy” as a basic need and how meaningful it can be to help lift spirits for people who don’t have anyone in their cheering corner. Also recognizing we can all benefit from stories of inspiration, we’re featuring a new section “In Your Corner” starting this edition. We look forward to highlighting special PWNP stories, and would love to hear from you if you have one to share. Please email us at pwnpcharity@gmail.com.

PWNP’s First “In Your Corner”

A 10 year old girl arrived at Grassroots last month with only a few pieces of clothing, NONE of which were for girls.  She had a boys Power Rangers shirt and boys pants that were too small.  Thank you to all of you who shopped and donated clothing in the correct size and style for her. Her mom shared how thrilled her daughter was to receive the new pieces. PWNP is always grateful to make a connection and offer someone the chance to feel a sense of pride and dignity.

Happening In April

Hot Lunch Being Served Monday April 21st

Since the lunch line falls on Easter, PWNP is mixing it up this month and delivering Chick-Fil-A to Grassroots and pizza’s to Sarah’s Hope in lieu of bagged lunches. This change created a lot of excitement in February so we are happy to provide another special treat for the kids come Easter Monday. Wishing you and yours a fun and safe break!

Stylish Shopping for a Cause

Many thanks to Deborah Whipple and W by Worth for sponsoring a wonderful event and helping us step into style! A special thanks also to all of our shoppers who helped contribute to the portion of the proceeds that will go towards making Mother’s Day gift bags for moms at Grassroots. The event was so much fun that we look forward to the possibility of doing it again in the fall. Stay tuned!
